On a scale from 1-10, I would rate my hand washing practice at 8. This is because it is sometimes forgotten in the clinic.

As a nurse, it is critical to practice good hygiene and disease prevention to prevent the spread of diseases. One of the best ways to achieve this is by maintaining good hand washing practices.

Current Practices for Disease Prevention

It is advised to wash your hands regularly throughout the day, especially after using the restroom, before eating, and after being in public places. Good hand washing habits are essential for reducing the transmission of disease.

It is recommended to wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds, or as long as it takes to sing "Happy Birthday" twice, using soap and water. Additionally, it's crucial to properly dry your hands after washing them as damp hands could retain bacteria.

Other health and hygiene habits that can help prevent the spread of disease include maintaining a healthy diet, staying hydrated, getting regular exercise, practicing proper cough and sneeze etiquette, and maintaining a clean environment.
