Proper Setting for OHMS ADJust Control on a Multitester of Analog VOM

Step 1: Short Input Leads

Short the input leads when the master switch is turned to ohms. This helps to zero out any residual voltage or current in the circuit before taking the resistance measurement.

Step 2: Adjust the Wheel

On analog VOMs, there is typically a wheel on the front panel for adjusting the zero point of the meter. Turn this wheel so that the meter reads 0 on the right-hand side of the scale. The zero point is clearly marked for reference.

Step 3: Read the Measurement

With the input leads shorted and the wheel adjusted for zero, you can now insert the leads into the circuit or component you want to measure the resistance of. The ohmmeter on an analog VOM should read 0 on the right-hand side of the scale if there is no resistance present in the circuit.

By following these steps, you can ensure accurate resistance measurements with your multitester of analog VOM.
